Is masking tape ok?.. Nail problem.

I'm planning on having a chilled day just painting my nails and stuff, but I've just looked in my nail set and my tape has ran out :( won't have a chance to go and get it as it's way to busy in shops so is masking tape an okay substitute?

Electrical tape works well, too.
