Every time I do my nails the nail polish last for like two days sometimes three before starting to chip off. I put a top coat on every other day and I make sure to apply a base coat before I start. I also clean my nail and file it before I start...so could it be my base & or top coat isn't all that good?

It could be your nail polish what brand are you using?

Cheaper brands tend to wear and chip faster and they also stain the nails if left on for too long.

Do your nails break? Because the structure of your nails could be the answer. Also if you use often your hands at work or home they will chip more often. Also do you cover the tip with polish? Do you wait enough time between layers? And if you put top coap every other day - there are too many layers, it make them chip more.

@ Diana I do have thin nails but they do not really break. also I do cover the tip with nail polish, how long should I be waiting in between coats?

First layer shoul dry completely, or at least 10 minutes (the base too). After second wait 2-3 minutes and then put on top coat. Apply only thin coats.
I use only a straigthening base, 1-2 coats of polish and no top coat ( excepting glittery polishes). And even I wash dishes, cook without gloves it lasts usually about 5 days, sometimes more. Also always put polish only on completely dry nails if you took a shower before etc:-)
