For me it helps when I prep my hair first :) and I have the most annoying hair typ ever, believe me, and prepping helps for me and a good straightner.

Go over your hair again or add a product to reduce frizz. Which may be the problem.

What I do is and I am mixed so I have thick coarse dry curly hair so first I wash it and put a good conditioner let it sit while you do your other showerly things then when you rinse it out just go over it very lightly with warm water then rinse out some if it not all because we want the har to be soft with cold water for shine. Then get out just squeeze the water out if your hair don't use a towel then let it airdry and don't brush it yet. Then put argon or morocon oil in your hair and some leave in conditioner then some split end binding if you have split ends. Then let it sit. Then about 30 mins later brush it then section it and start to straighten it but do very small sections at a time about 2 inches long and very thin and if you want you can put heat protecter but the oils and products should take care of that. And when you are done out a little more oil in it and if you what more split end binding. Then if you need go over it lightly one more time.

First straighten it with a blower and a big round brush. Then with flat iron. Fix with a jet of cold air. Also may try a heat protector with fixative effect:-)

What Symone said is the only way my hair doesn't turn into a big frizzy mess after straightening. Though it takes a lot of practice not to burn yourself when holding a small comb lol.

I use john Freida 3-day straight and blow dry first. that in itself does half the work. then I use a little hairspray/finishing spray and go over small sections with a straightener. I do the bottom layers first and work my way up. My hair is naturally wavy and it takes a couple passes.
