You mean the curling wand right? And could you be more specific about which curling wand or iron you're talking about? Or are you just asking in general?

I prefer the wand. I think it works better and will last longer plus the iron always pulls my hair.

The iron is nice for barrel curls and could be used the same way as a curling wand however I prefer the curling wand because I feel it gives better curls and I find it difficult to do barrel curls
