Ok, so I've used shimmer lights before and wasnt really happy with it because it turned my hair purple (yikes), but I was watching a youtube video where this girl was saying that when she uses it she leaves it on her hair and scrubs it until the suds turn white, and she had beautiful white hair.
So, my question is, has anyone tried this? Or if I do it am I destined for Barney hair?
Thanks! xxoo

The trick with toning shampoo is not to use it too often or to much of it. I haven't heard that scrubbing it helps, but when I was blonde and toning I'd leave it on for a minute once every week or week and a half depending on how orange it was. Maybe try using less and leaving it on for a less amount of time?

Depending on how you're washing, and how your porosity is, it may just be a little too "strong". Heavily damaged hair, or hair that is only slightly damp with absorb a lot more of the color. If either of those things fit your situation, that could be the problem. Another thing you could try it cocktailing it. In other words, use a white/clear shampoo and add just enough shimmer lights to your palmful to make it a lighter purple color. The point here is to dilute the shade, but you'll still get the benefits of a to in shampoo.

That could be a big part of my problem, Rachel. I will try mixing it with something else and see how that works. Thanks!
