Depends on your skin type and which MAC foundation you are talking about.

I'm personally not a fan... for the same money I'd rather get something a bit better!

I love mac. I have the audio finish and it is worth the money because it does last a long time :)

It really depends. A big thing with MAC is a lot of people say it causes breakouts. For me it is the only foundation I've tried that doesn't break me out.
Saying "MAC foundation" is a really broad spectrum, as they have a lot of different types.
Personally, I've tried their Studio Fix Fluid, Pro Longwear, Studio Sculpt, Matchmaster and Mineralize Moisture foundation. All of these are liquid foundations as I don't like powders for my skin.
I had Matchmaster and Studio Sculpt a long time ago so I really can't remember my impression of them. The only one I didn't like was Prolongwear, the sales associate at MAC actually referred to it as "spackle" and wasn't suprised I was returning it. It's a really weird formula and it's hard to blend. Thus being said, my mom swears by Prolongwear so it really up to your personal skin type.
Right now I'm hung up on the Mineralize Moisture foundation. It claims to be light to medium coverage but I build it up enough for full coverage. It gives your skin a really dewy finish, the associate at MAC when I repurchased it referred to the finish as "velvet-y". It almost makes your skin look wet if you apply it with a Beauty Blender.
Lastly, depending on your price range MAC foundations can be a little bit pricy. I know they are for me, I legit want to cry when I pump my bottle and nothing comes out because there goes another $30. But I look at it as an investment for my face, so it's worth it.

I'm not a fan of mac foundation, too heavy. I'd try something drugstore first.
