Flat irons, anyone?

I have thick curls and it's really hard for me to flat iron them and keep them curly. Does anyone have any good recommendations for great flat irons (or curling irons) or maybe it's not the flat iron itself but the gel I use to keep it from proofing out. Anyone have any recommendations on good gels meant to keep curly hair straight? Help!!

As a stylist for my client who have coarse thick hair , I found it best to use pomade instead of gel. Small small sections for flat iron spray section with heat protector and hair spray (extra light hold) from a distance smooth the hair then straighten it. Curling same thing never curl a section bigger than your barrel. With thick hair smaller than your barrel.
You may also want to try hot comb straightening /curling. It'll be faster and last longer :) hope that helps

One of my best friend's has curly hair and when I straighten it it takes time, because if I just take straightener to her hair it gets frizzy and the curls start to comeback through out the day. I make her wash her hair then while it's when I use like an anti frizzing cream and a smoothing moose, I take a round brush and blowers her hair straight. when her hair is dry I add the flat ironing spray and straighten her hair. it works and looks beautiful..I hope this helps :-)
