What does "washed out" makeup look like?

I always see the term "washed out" when some ladies are talking about lipstick. May someone give me an example (a pic or nice description) of what it means when you looked washed out?

It sort of means it makes you look ill or does nothing to compliment your complexion. It can be seen in particular with nude lipsticks that some people wear that are too close to their actual skin tone or a bit to light, it gives the appearance of illness.

You can even think hair. have you seen girls with hair that makes their skin color dull/gray looking. The color either to light or dark. thats washed out.
