Roots and redness!

Okay ladies, here is my problem. I have medium slightly ashy dirty blonde/Brown hair. I used to dye it with ions natural dark brown but I stopped about six months ago. it faded quiet a bit but now it's starting to go red at the end and I have already cut a lot off in prep of going all natural (and to get rid of thinning ends hopefully caused from dying) what can I do besides dying it to have it fade better/not look so red?
