Aaargh! It's a mean circle, you wear make-up to cover spots, but wearing make-up gives you more spots, so you put on more make-up, and get more spots. Unfortunately I have been going around this circle for months now. I use tinted moisturiser from nivea, (i'm in the uk, don't know if nivea is available in your area or whatever) but the cover it provides for my skin is awful, after about an hour, half hour, it goes blotchy and makes my skin look worse than if i hadn't bothered at all! So can anyone help me with good facial washes, scrubs, cleansers, toners, moisturisers, make-up, tinted moisturiser, anything you think is useful, stick it in a comment, thanks :)

You should use the foundation that Neutrogena offers. It offers really good coverage, but it also has acne-preventing agents and protects the skin really well. Research a little more on it, but I think It'll be perfect for you. Hope this helps!

@Cierra: Neutrogena makeup isn't available in the UK, IIRC.

@Marnie: I don't recommend foundation for teenagers because puberty can wreak havoc on the skin, and using foundation can actually make it *worse*, not better. If you think you need to cover anything, use a concealer and blend well, then set with a powder.

Skincare, on the other hand, YES! The puberty years are the perfect time to start a skincare routine.

Some ingredients for cleansers and toners to look for in regards to fighting the spots are salicylic acid, tea tree oil, and/or witch hazel. (Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial agent; witch hazel an astringent. Salicylic acid is a known acne combatant.) That said, my current favourite cleanser is by Acure Organics. (I have combination/oily skin and still suffer from occasional breakouts.) Don't think you can get it across the pond, though (unless you do a custom purchase or set up a US-based forwarding address).

For a moisturizer, I'd think nothing too heavy (Boots has a nice daytime one in the Botanical range, and it has SPF built in -- the Complexion Refining one). Other products... do you guys have Burt's Bees in the UK? If you do, they make a fantastic spot treatment in rollerball form. If not, I'm thinking you can find something that'll work for you.
