Use a whitening toothpaste to remove stains. Garlic is a great nail hardener

I know you said your nails are brittle but I would give this buffer a try. My nails were so stained from polish the bottom half of my nails were an ugly orangey brown color. I was so self conscious about it I kept covering them up with more polish, making them more stained! I use this once a week and my nails actually look normal now and I don't need polish to hide the stains.

Agree with everyone about base, whitening toothpaste and buffer, the only thing I wanted to say that isn t recommended to bufg nails more often than once a month, because otherwise they can become too thin?

I think it depends on your nail type. For me I always had short brittle and thin nails that I bit my entire life. Then about a year ago I stopped biting them and started paying attention to keeping them nice and now I have long healthy, thick nails, so I can get away with buffing them once a week. These are my natural nails, and yes, I know, the tips are still yellowy but that is because I smoke and its something I'm ok with. Before found that buffer they were literally orange.

Anyway there aren't universal tip, they need to be adapted. If you don't mind I will suggest you not to cut the cutticle.

I don't cut them... Ugh I pick them. Still haven't been able to break that habit yet :(

I think my pointer finger is literally missing the cuticle?

Yeah... I know how hard is to break biting nails and this skin, when I was about 12, had same habit and only my aunt's rude remarks helped me))))

I've come along way... I used to pick the skin around my entire finger so bad my boyfriend said it "looked like my fingers went through a meat grinder" which sounds disgusting, I know, but it was something I would do and not realize I was doing it. I would be so self conscious I would not want to go into a store and pay the cashier for fear they would see my fingers and be horrified.

At least you started to break this habit and did a great progress! You could nourish better care of cutticle and it won't chip that much so there wouldn't be anything to bite))))

Thanks Diana, and I agree, I should invest in a good hand cream, at this point I don't moisturized them at all.

Ladies here like using oils, but honestly I hate that sensation when there is smth on my skin so I just use products with oils, now I use garnier hand cream for dry skin with mango oil and like it very much. If it helps -> Once a week I hold my hands for about ten minutes in a bowl with warm water and sea salt and shower gel, then push (45' angle) the cutticle with bamboo bud, cut only if skin has chiped. And every time before going to bed use cream and massage about 5 minutes in the cutticle, sometimes use creams in the day after contact with water and whwn feel hands very dry:-)
