Shallac all the way. It's a lot healthier than acrylic.

shellac is healthier for you nails, you could even try OPI gel, same concept as shellac just a different product, but I would say Shellac over acrylic

If your local salon carries OPI gel polish I suggest you get that it lasts longer than Shellac .

If your acrylic is applied properly it won't cause any more damage than Shellac will. Has your tech been over-buffing your nails prior to application? Perhaps with a drill? If that's the case then it's no wonder your nails have been ruined.
Gel polish is great but if you're nails are weak and flimsy it's going to lift and chip off quite quickly. You'd be best off going for a coloured hard gel overlay to strengthen them until the damage grows out.

which do you prefer? I haven't done shallac yet but I am thinking about since acrylic ruins my nails but my nails are weak and don't stay long. I am curious to see who does what:)
