They must teach the staff as they have to know how to use the products, I highly doubt that they don't

No, you have to come at them all ready educated and set to work immediately. They only offer education seminars to the artist and that's mainly about upcoming product releases. They will not hand hold and show you how to do makeup on others. I'd suggest checking out a department counter like Lancome or Clinique where they are more opt to teach someone with no prior working background in cosmetics.

Like at any job,you have to be good at what you do. Since mac is a highly popular place to work the better you are and the more experience you have it will be easierto get a job. You have to be highly trained and have your license. Theydo also have a course but they normally only offer it to new employees for training.

They interview you and then set another interview where you bring a friend to experiment on...they give you a scenario (ex: going out to dinner) and you have to do the makeup on your friend then they eventually give you a second scenario where you have to work with the makeup you already have on your friend. If they see you have experience and are skilled then they will consider hiring you. I had two sisters that worked for MAC and many other MAC girls have different styles so it all depends how skilled you are in your specific style.

You don't have to be licensed...youll go through courses and training eventually if you want to become full time but you mostly start off as a freelancer until they see youre good at selling and doing makeup.

You can look into a career at sephora. I also an good at doing my own makeup but definitely need more knowledge/experience/skill before I feel comfortable working on others. I was recently hired on cash wrap but after the holidays can sign up for different training classes and product courses so that I can move into the color (makeup) department if I feel ready as well as the company feels I'm able to work in that position.
Call MAC and ask their policy if your interested only with them.

You have to have some sort of knowledge & have done makeup on others before. It's one thing to do it on yourself but someone else is different. Like Velen said, you'll need a portfolio. Go on youtube, there's plenty of videos talking about the interview process at MAC. I know you have to have a model & are given a certain amount of time to create a certain look on her, foundation matching & all then you have to be able to turn that look into a night time look.

You don't need a license or certificate, I wouldn't even say you need too much makeup experience.
The speaking interview is mainly about your customer experience and sales past. Then once you get past that you're in your makeup interview and you can just use that opportunity to wow them.
It definitely does look better to have a history with makeup BUT It was down to me and a girl with 10 years Estée experience and me with my 2 years of freelance and bam I got it- just be a real people person, have the Mac look and for Goodness sake, use hand sanitizer before touching your models face...
But if you don't have much experience practice practice practice! Learn about proper hygiene technique, match your model before hand, perfect your symmetry etc.
