My hair is going to be the end of me NEED HELP!

I swear to God my hair has it out for me.

If I use most products in my hair it gets stringy and loses all volume. If I don't, it's frizzy and out of control.

It won't stay straight no matter how much hairspray or other products I use, and curls fall flat in an hour. My hair seems to want to stay in this not-straight-not-curly-shitty-zone.

My full bangs refuse to stop splitting down the middle and spreading apart, and the sections of hair next to my face love to flip out and go in all sorts of crazy directions.

I can't look at one picture of myself and not cringe at the sight of my crazy hair. Taking a TON of pictures is kinda part of my job, and can't be avoided. I need help, asap! What kind of products do I need to be using? What sort of things should I look for on labels and product descriptions?

I'm desperate. I'll try just about anything I can afford. I am in Thailand at the moment so keep in mind the heat and humidity here...

This probably won't be of much help, but I feel you. I've tried product after product and cut after cut to get photoready hair and after years of pain and split ends from trying too hard to tame it, I gave up. Remarkably, the best way isn't to change the shape of your hair but to play to it's strengths. My hair is wavy but weird - very curly on top layer and straight in the bottom layer. So I layered my hair and I let it airdry - too much heat will never do it good. So play to your hair's strengths. Find a CUT that gives it shape, not products. My favourite hair product is Percy & Reed No Oil Volumising Oil. It's absolutely amazing - gives volume, smoothness, smells nice and works for oily hair and also protects from heat :)

I can't layer mine, it's too thin. My usual stylist told me it would just make my hair look stringy. I had wanted to try to lessen my hair before moving to Thailand. She could help me, but alas, she's a day's flight away. The only people cutting my hair now don't speak English. :(

If you can get your hands on Bumble & Bumble or Tigi Bedhead products they tend to help hold styles easily - I used the Foxy Curls line for ages plus it smells like sugar. They're really good and it can't hurt to give it a try :)

Unfortunately even if I could find western brands here, they usually don't sell the same products. And I ADORE Bumble & Bumble. Whenever I used to go get my hair cut that's what she'd use. One product, and I always looked flawless. So expensive, but when I get back I'm so buying it!

I agree with the first post long term u need to match the style with your hair type if your bangs split then maybe you should grow them down or even out choose a style to match your waves what about soft Matt beach babe waves? Work great on thinner hair too

It won't be the products to help - unfortunately it's gonna be the day to day style. If your full bangs are splitting, that's your natural part. If your hair is trying to be wavy, then I'm humidity curling it is a better idea. Good luck! Products aren't the key, they are just to make an awesome style even more awesome.

Paul Mitchell just came out with a new product line for curls, sulfate free shampoo, leave in conditioner and a scrunch product that doesn't make hair crunchy. IT'S AWESOME. Plus the smell is amazing.

I worry with curls because they ALWAYS fall flat. Plus, I don't have a curling iron I can use here. I run around all day at work, so straightening just always seemed my best option.

My bangs have always given me trouble. I used to do a side bang thing, but I love my full bangs so much and don't want to see them go. They make me look halfway decent when they stay put (as opposed to my usual shitty-ness). I was thinking of getting hair wax for my bangs, if that would help.

Ashley - go to sephora and get some of the living proof hair products. They should help some.

Maybe start using less products, my hair gets really frizzy do I usually take a shower and use Marocon oil. It really helps. If your hair is really frizzy all te time you might wanna start washing it more and instead of using heat products, start braiding it back or putting it in a bun! Hope it helped):

@Austyn: I wash it every day, because if I don't my hair gets SUPER oily. I tried every other day, but it's just not possible with my hair. Will look for Marocon oil, though. I always worry about putting oils in my hair when it's already so oily.
