Elf has a brush literally called countour brush. It's small, so it can either be used to contour your nose or be used in your crease. To contour my cheekbones, I use another elf brush (it may be a bronzer brush, I don't remember) but it's a flat brush. I'm not really into expensive brushes either. I'd rather splurge on makeup!

I use an angled blush brush for contouring. I find it easier to blend that way and it looks more natural than using a thin brush
