Ok girlies! I bought Beauty Marked by MAC. It is a gorgeous black with raspberry shimmer/glitter throughout. Now the other day I used it all over my lid and tried to smoke it out. When I did that it just looked like I took a poorly pigmented matte black all over my lid, not a cute look. No matter what I do I can't get the shimmer to stay:/ I use a primer underneath to increase longevity, but do I need a base to make the color come true? HELP needed. Thanks girlies.

A base can help but sadly some colors are just like that. I have no experience with MAC eyeshadow but that is sometimes the case with others I've tried. I would try Nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil as a base. It's a little stickier than just a normal eyeshadow primer. I would get it in a neutral color, "milk" (matte white) or "black bean" (black.) Make sure to blend it out a bit so it isn't super thick or chunky and then pat the eyeshadow on over top with a stiff brush. You could also try using it wet. Just get a brush damp and dip into the eyeshadow (in the corner) and apply it that way. It will be a little harder to blend but the shimmer might stay a little better.
Also, if you are interested in the naked 3 palette by Urban Decay, there is a color in it that is similar to that MAC shadow. I would swatch it at Sephora first before buying and see if you'll use any of the other colors. UD's formula might be different than MAC. Unfortunately it's only available in that palette for the time being. Not sure if they will ever release it individually.

No problem! If you'd like to see the Nyx pencil in action I recommend looking at some of xSparkage's videos on YouTube. She's the one that introduced me to it and she uses it in a lot of her videos.
