I'm going to sound like a complete idiot but here it goes. I wanted to do a face mask so I searched online. The one that I went with was one that consists of egg, flour, lemon and cinnamon. I put it on my face and it began to burn really badly so I took it off. I now have a BRIGHT red face and I don't know what's happened. HELP ME!

It's the cinnamon. Cinnamon is a spice, and it's known to be an irritant to the skin. Keep the kitchen products IN THE KITCHEN, and stick to beauty products that have been formulated by professionals :) you'll have to wait for the inflammation to go away. Try Aloe Vera or an after-sun moisturising cream to help with the burning sensation. Get well soon! x

Cinnamon is good for your skin but its necessary to balance it out with milk or yogurt. to cancel the redness apply plain natural yogurt or olive oil to your skin. it'll also heal your reaction :)

@Anupa, I've always been told by my dermatologist that cinnamon will irritate and inflame the skin, and to never use it in home masks. I know some girls use it as a lip plumper, because it irritates the lips and puffs them up. But I agree with you, natural yoghurt or olive oil will work wonders :)

Cinnamon caused it. I remember one girl was upset about it because she had a sunburn on a part of her face and then she did the mask and it looked worse than the sunburn. I don't play with a cinnamon.
