My derm has put me on isotretinoin (Accutane), it has to be for 4 months.
Should I go for this course? or should I wait for the acne to go away itself? I was on minoz for a month but it didnt show any results. Any help would be really appreciated!

I tried it and got off of it after like two months.I read reviews and while a lot of people that just got off are happy people that haven't taken them in years said it gave them health problems years after.

You have to follow all your derms directions to the tea your skin is going to be very sensitive and very easily burned by the sun and you do not want to use any exfoliating products at all I'm sure your derm told you all if this before putting you on the regime, the people I no that have been on it had good results at the end but you have to be patient your skin is going to be very dry and flake till the medication runs its coarse.

It's really up to you and what you feel is best. I use to go to a dermatologist as well. She gave me all the medications. I only took mine 3 months and I quit and asked for more natural and holistic ways instead. It never hurts to try. But don't get your hopes up!! I'm 21 and I finally got my acne under control. It just takes time to find what's right for you.

I've never been on accutane, because of some of the risks that come with it. I was on Solodyn which cleared my face up fairly quickly. I do have some friends who have taken it and have had great results. The only reason I chose not to take it is because it can cause infertility.

Did it and it worked wonders!! Then 5 years went by and I did another cycle of it... Been off of it for years now and I would never regret it. You also have to check you liver levels every month (blood test) and use at least 2 methods of birth control bc it causes extreme fetal harm. Get a good moisturizer and lip balm ready bc it makes you so dry... It's a great drug!! Do some research... Listen to your md... And make sure you take it as prescribed

I would definitely do it. I had bad acne in high school and held off bc I was scared of the side effects. I finally decided to take it in college and have no regrets! Nothing else worked for me. Your skin will be incredibly dry for the months that you are on it (Cetaphil Moisture Cream was only thing that worked for me, not the moisturizer) but that is all temporary. I wish I had taken it on HS as I am now dealing with some acne scarring bc I waited. I took 2 other courses of it in my 20s and have had no side effects whatsoever. I would take it again if I had to. My acne has never gone back to how it was before I took Accutane. Yes, sometimes I get broken out but it's a small area or 1 or 2 vs. my whole face being covered.

Ok Maggie, what is HS? sry I don't know:P
After how much time did you take another course? (after the first one).

Whoops...HS is high school. I think I took it the first time at 19, the second at 23 and the third at 27 roughly. I'm 32 now and haven't needed it yet. I think your dermatologist will tell you most people only need one course. I actually know a few people who have been fine with one course. Yes, it's a pain having super dry skin, needing to get the bloodwork, be on two forms of birth control for a few months but it's worth it. My skin is just the normal breakouts here and there everyone gets versus all over my face, so bad makeup couldn't cover it. It changed my life. It really did. I would recommend it to anyone with moderate to severe acne.
