I have to agree with Ashley S. The H2Ocean spray works miracles. I have used it on all of my piercings, and what usually takes 3-4 weeks to heal takes 1-2 weeks. Def worth purchasing.

I've had 3 lip piercings: snake bites and a labret and all of them healed fine. You should just be careful not to put make up too close to the area for the first few weeks. When it comes to cleaning, what I did was sea salt soaks (just add a bit of sea salt to water, being to boil and let it cool down, using a q-tip clean the area around it) and every so often I'd use a alcohol free mouth wash. The thing you should always keep in mind is to be careful not to over clean it, I'd typically clean it twice: in the morning and when I went to bed. Cleaning it too often can be as bad as not cleaning, as it irritates the piercing and leads to rejection. And I've always heard that the saline cleaners you buy aren't as effective, but I know nothing about it from experience.

I have several piercings. I use saline rinses. You can get it cheap at any drug store. If I found anything to start looking infected, I make a paste using water and Sea Salt and leave it on over night and it works wonders.

... I have my labret for few months and I LOVE it! The problem is, you can't really clean it first days, because you shouldn't touch it too much - it hurts and you only make it worse. So, after you get it, let it rest. Clean water could be fine. And first days do not eat any spicy / salted food. Yes, you will be able to eat, just be careful. :)
And when you feel like you can touch it (it can take few days), use sticks for cleaning ears! :) They're perfect. You can get them under the piercing, like everywhere. And clean it from inside too, inside the mouth, toothpaste won't be enough. Go for some antibacterial water. :)
I hope it somehow helps? :) Feel free to ask.
Wish you luck
xoxo

I say go for the piercing. My piercer told me h2ocean doesn't really work. They stopped selling it at their shop. But I would use dial soak or some antibacterial soap. You should be fine. I usually clean my piercings 2 times a day or 3 depending on the piercing. But when you get it pierced they should go over everything for you. 😊 Good luck

My first lip piercing I was given H2Ocean by my piercer and everything healed up fine. Minimal swelling, not much redness. There was some gross ooziness and swelling but that's to be expected, I mean you're sticking metal in your face. You just spray it on the surrounding area and clean things up with a q-tip. Pretty easy. My second lip piercing I got done at a different place and they didn't give me any aftercare instructions at all; luckily I still had some H2Ocean left from my first time. That's the product I'd recommend using. If you can't get it, you can use salt water instead and I'm sure you'll be fine. It's been a few years since I got these done, but the best advice I can give to you is don't mess with it. Touching it is just gonna irritate things more. It'll take some getting used to when you eat/drink/do your makeup, but try your hardest not to touch. Also I would suggest getting a ring instead of a stud at first because it seems to be easier to care for. I changed my second one out to a stud before it was healed, and it wasn't a long enough length for me so I had the same issue as Jessica F. with it starting to heal over with the stud inside. Luckily it was just overnight so I was able to switch it out. If you get it done at a reputable shop (not some janky hole-in-the-wall like I got my second done at), they'll be able to provide better details and recommendations.

I've had mine pierced since I was 15 and I love it, I will say it is very important to clean it very well and make sure when u get it pierced its the right size. when I got mine done the stud they put in it was too small for my lip and it got infected and my skin grew over the stud and it was horrible to get it fixed. so just make sure u constantly are cleaning it with antibacterial soap
