Lately I've been getting really into lips... as I started looking at different products to try it dawned on me that I'm 22 and can't apply lipstick any better than a 7 year old...seriously! anyone else struggle with getting the perfect lippy??...or any other makeup technique for that matter?

I can't seem to get foundation application with the right brushes. I keep buying what looks like foundation brushes but sometimes they flop.

but I go my lips down! I use a lip liner, fill in, then use my fingers to pat translucent powder for a matte look

I really like bare minerals foundation brushes. the bristles are soft and well cut and are pretty durable. I'll have to try the powder, mine always smudges and looks lighter in some places and way dark in others.

First I would practice on forgiving color like pinks and nudes just to practice and if your new maybe do what I do normally which is add color to the center of the lips from the opening of your mouth then with your finger or a brush blend it out wards paying close attention to the Cupid's bow.

The key to a perfect lippie is smooth moisturized lips. It's never cute to wear lipstick & your lips to look dry & cracked. I exfoliate my lips about every 2 weeks. When I first start doing my makeup, I make sure I apply a chapstick so it sinks into my lips by time I go to apply my lipstick. Also, using a lipliner helps with a nice application.

1. moisterize lips
2. line and fill lips with a lipliner. it makes the lipstick last longer and stay in place.
3. apply lipstick.
4. with a brush and concealer, clean around the lip. this makes it looks clean and sharp.

Slow and steady! I take time doing my lips especially if its a bold color because that way they can look perfect. I pay close attention when lining and then slowly apply the color on my lips - following the liner. It may seem dumb but if you start out slow you train your muscles and in time you'll have the perfect lipstick everytime!
