I've had my ears pierced for about four months and one of them has a scab growing around the back of the piercing. I didn't wear my earrings overnight for the first time last night and this morning, it really hurt to put my earring in. What's wrong with my ear? Is it infected?

Depending on the piercing most of them need to be cleaned if not the scabs will get hard use sea salt and water mix and use a qtip to clean around it and since you already pulled it out I recommend to go see your piercer

It probably hurt because it was sealing itself again and was harder to put in but basically what daizha said if it is an infection.
