For christmas I know I want an expensive hair appliance. I can't decide if I should get a curling iron or wand or a blow dryer. I want to know your personal preferences and if you have a good curling iron or blow dryer. I need help with brands. I like big long curls so if you have a curling iron that gives you big long lasting curls please let me know.

If it were me, I would go with a curling wand. Simply because I let my hair airdry majority of the time. The curling wand or iron is the same(unless the wand is tapered.) my fave wand:
-conair Infiniti
Curling iron:
-I can't remember the name but it's a gold ceramic iron from Sally's. Might be Helen of Troy

Does the curling wand have different size barrels.

Some of them do. The more expensive ones like Cortex 4 in 1.

Paul Mitchell now has a wand that has different barrel attachments. I'm not sure what the price would be for it if you find it somewhere, but in the Cosmoprof (only licensed beauty professionals can shop there) ad I saw it in I believe it was around $90 and stuff there is always quite a bit cheaper than buying it in a salon or some place.

But I also have a Conair Infiniti and love it. It's basically the only curling iron I use.

If you want a hair dryer, ask for an Elchim! I've had my current one for about 13-14 years (and my mom probably had it longer before then). I've never used a hair dryer I liked better =)
