Any suggestions on how to get rid of my black hair without it being so damaging to my hair??

Why can't you go light?
And go to the hairdressers and talk to them about how not to damage your hair.

Shave it))) <- It was the thing I wanted to do after quiting black.
You will damage it anyway and will have to cut off the most part. But depending on the result you want, it's possible to damage it less so that you won't have to cut it all. As I know the idea is to pick a bleacher with a low % of peroxide and hold it more:-)

There's no way to do it with no damage. You can slowly go lighter. As in go to a salon and have them take it one-two shades lighter every 3-6 weeks to prevent as much damage. That way you can do masks and help at least a little. Don't do it all in one sitting, it might just break off if you do. I have a black peek a boo in my hair, and I bleached it to a brown, now I'm just letting it grow out and am covering it with veggie dyes. I dyed it black in October 2 years ago and now I only have a couple more inches before it's going to be completely cut off. Just be patient.

And I heard some ladies who wanted to quit black, but stay dark that they just started using a dark brown above, and in time the black turned into a more brownish color:-)

Thank you girls for the helpful tips! I'm very impatient but looks like this is going to be a long process before I see the light again 😍
