I tried oil of Olay serum but it broke me out..

Naomi yes jar packaging for skin care. using your fingers, howerver clean you try to make them leaves a potential for bacteria to get in the product. also some ingredients don't stay stable once the air hits it. you can see products changing color like a retinol
or vitamin c when its exposed to air or light. so your loosing out on the products being able to do their job so to speak.

Jacqueline that's a very good question and I have an idea about a few but my husband would be the best one to answer that question and he left awhile ago. Some use lemon extract (also known as citrus medica limonum). That is commonly used as it has a way to soften the blow and make the product more appeasing scent wise. A few years ago my husband spoke at some industry event and I remember him saying that to lessen risk of skin irritation in skincare products in particular that reformulating with the basic of the basic leaving out all the crazy preservatives, fragrances and uneccessary fillers will create a much superior product. But its a hard sell because the buying public wants the most advance science around to combat x,y and z. I do know that with foundation for example, sadly, some of the junk ingredients has to remain for shelf life because without it it will not last for long.Plus it also depends on what the formulas is based off...gel based, liquid mineral...they all require some unique ingredient to make it all bind together to give you the finish you desire. And the brands that claim to be natural and good for the skin...not always the case. I couldn't dare use Tarte when I was going thru chemo and radiation treatment a few years ago. Jane Iredale was my go to. Bareminerals couldn't even cut it. There is one skincare line that I feel from my own personal experience with has gotten the fragrance free thing down pat. Renee Rouleau. She makes the beneficial ingredients do all the talking. Her elderberry toner is a perfect example of that. Elderberry has a slight natural fragrance to it. But its also very beneficial as a skin toner. And her Triple Berry Acid Peel. Same thing (smells like jam because she uses real fruit and there is a safe balance of preservatives ). I sometimes feel like I should've gone to medical school alongside the hubs.lol.

@Danny, yeah, I've Noticed how things change quickly esp if yours trying to b paraben n preservative free. you get the brown. yuck. but that's how it goes.

the Olay serum I tried was the basic moisture regenerist one..

Did you get the fragrance free version? I had tried that too and had issues. unfortunate cause it doubled nicely as a primer. now I'm using the micro sculpting one. the combo of it w all my other stuff is making me a little dry but no other issues. I know how frustrating it is trying to find good or
products, I feel your pain lol

Naomi...I seriously considered it long before I met my husband but I can't stand the sight of a living person struggling to live. I would be beside myself if I couldn't save every single patient. Now forensic MD I considered but you still have to go to medical school, do residency, handle the living before you can branch off. To satisfy my forensic desire I did take a six month class in fingerprinting. I'm certified out of my home state of Cali and attend conferences and volunteer when there are natural disasters and they need to I'd peoples remains via fingerprints. That's is far as I'll go with it. :)

As far what Renee uses as preservatives I will have to go online and pull it up because your girl here tossed all empties of RR loot because everything is all listed on her products.

I want to say I did get the fragrance free one.. but I'm not home to check.. working a double shift today. I'm using trader Joes new serum.. it not anti aging per-seh. its a mega boost of antioxidants.. just have to keep reading labels..

@Shelley. I hear ya on.that body stuff. I can't stand to b near blood or anything like that. you should look into the herbalist arena.

Jacqueline, yep. Been at it since 2001 but not on a regular full-time basis. I did work for LAPD for awhile but it was hard juggling my daughter and son who were both so young at the time with the worst shift ever created by man. I loved it. Lab setting, perfect for introverts.

Definitely check out her website Jacqueline. She is set to release a completely new format any day now so it should be even nicer than before. She owns two spas in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I plan on going out there for my 40th birthday next year to get a facial from her. A very humble and personable woman she is despite her success.

Jacqueline...you're fine my dear. I've never been called out to testify on anything as I wasn't with law enforcement that long to gather a large chain of cases and when latent print techs are asked to testify its because defense is questioning the probability. I did a lot of work taking prints from deceased individuals. Now it I just do it strictly volunteer in case of a national or global disaster. There was a fellow tech that I worked with that was a retired studio makeup artist. She was the most detailed and precise person I ever met. I think a lot of that has to do with her prior career. So if you ever decide to jump ship (which I highly doubt you'll since makeup is in your blood) its a field definitely worth looking into.
