Although I'm 33, I'm just now starting to get into facial makeup (foundations, BBcreams, concealer.)

Majority of my face is NC45. The rest is something darker but not quite NC50. And aside from drugstore makeup, I mostly buy online (went into the Mac store to get shade matched.) But it's so confusing.

What is the difference between "Dark" and "Deep?"
Is having a yellow undertone considered "warm" or "cool?" I am so lost! Help?

Well to tell you the truth if you go by the color wheel if you have a yellowish or golden undertone you would be warm... But you say that Mac put you at a nc45 or 50 right? I'm both colors as well but I by the nw... Which is the warm side of the color spectrum... I match really well when I wear golds ,greens and even blues which is in the cool side... Being African American I have learned that we have a so many different colors and tones mixed in it gets really hard... But on the other hand the deep/dark thing I learned in art class lol
DEEP refers to the saturation or intensity and pureness of the hue.
DARK describes the value, or darkness of the hue

Explanation:
Color is described based on three properties:
Hue, Saturation and Value.
HUE is what we actually call the color (blue red yellow etc.)

SATURATION or intensity is a description of the colors’ concentration or brightness. A pure hue has a high intensity. A diluted hue has lower intensity… (it is less “deep”)

VALUE describes how dark or light (the colors shades or tints).

So, Deep blue is blue undiluted with another color,
and dark blue has some black added to it.

Yellow undertones are considered warm, but it is possible for your skin to appear golden but actually have cool undertones, so be careful. I'm not sure, but when I think of "deep" I imagine skin that has a rich colour with little or no translucence. Alot of mediterraneans have this I think. "Dark" might refer to skin tones that are even darker than "deep". Or it may be just a relative term, I don't know. Don't quote me on this.

Mac does the opposite NC= warm tones NW= cool tones. So Chenoa if your NW your cool

Thank you so much! I thought that yellow undertones were considered warm, but Mac had me all thrown off! :-)
