You should try using tape for the zigzags.

The trick with using tape is to take some of the sticky stuff off of it before you apply it to your nail. You can do this by sticking the tape somewhere on your skin and removing a couple times, this prevents the tape from taking off your base color. (It took do much trial and error for me :/) Also, make sure that the base color is completely dry and when removing the tape, do it while the color you just applied is still wet, make sense? Hope this helped!

Now, my issue is I can never get a good Chevron stencil using tape, they always suck, I've tried using zig zag scissors but my scissors must be awful or something because it just doesn't work for me :/
