I am a horse show girl so I had plenty of years of practice on tails and manes. I would suggest practicing on something or something (I'd love doing it with a horse tail because the texture was easy to get my fingers around) once you feel super confident, start working on your own head. I recommended try to start the braid lower on your head, like grabbing two pieces just above your ears and one piece in the middle. Work a braid that way till you have your finger movement down behind your head. Ten before you know it, it will just come natural. Hope this helps!!!
