For natural shimmer I'd get ELF facial shimmery whip ((only %1 at target)). Put small amounts on your cheek bones and your cupids bow :)

Don't try to do the cream highlighting and contouring with foundations YouTube gurus use. They're fabulous for photography and film but in real life all of it can get really cakey really easy. At best if you REALLY wanted to do it how they do use liquid foundations instead of cream, also liquid concealers and a light powder not full coverage. The way I do it is to highlight and contour with powder, I use a full coverage foundation and a 2 shade lighter concealer under the eyes just to brighten. I set it all with powder to make it matte. I use various highlighters, I love Napoleon Perdis Ultimate Contour palette it's so easy it has blush, contour color and a pretty highlight that makes you look gorgeous and Dewey. I also use a cheaper version from Milani their baked blush in luminosity down the nose, cupids bow, chin, on the cheekbones and a tiny bit by the eyebrows to pull up the eye.

I actually disagree with alexandra, the reason makeup artists use cream or liquid highlighting is because it looks the most natural if you do it correctly. Powder tends to fade, and looks patchy after time expecially if you have extremely oily or dry skin. What I recommend is buying your favorite concealer 2 shades lighter and 2 shades darker than your skin color. In the hollows of your cheeks and temples use the dark, and then create a triangle under your eyes towards your nose, on your nose, chin, and forehead use the light. Like the diagram about. Then blend blend blend. It will make a difference but look natural. Then go over it with powder to set.
