I don't want to get highlights but I want to emphasize the highlights i naturally get from the sun, they're just really subtle. Preferably something DIY that I don't have to go out and buy a product. Does lemon juice or cider vinegar work? I've heard of those...recommendations please! (My hair is light brown)

lemon juice DOES NOT work, without a huge amount of lemon's. There isn't really any DIY ones but there are shampoo's and products out there

Yes, use lemons. The citric acid helps the sun penetrate you hair and bring out the natural highlights in your hair.
And Chloe, maybe it just doesn't work on your hair texture. because I have done it before and it worked.

Lemon actually does work depending on how dark your hair is, if you are very dark brown it obviously won't do much! Try some lemon!

So if I put Lemon and stay indoors will it still work?

Obviously you must go outside.

Well Maddie, I have tried it before and it damaged my hair so that is why I asked.

I heard using Rhubarb with Lemon Juice and some water helps those with dark hair so that your hair does not turn out orange. You will have to puree a few pieces to get a spray bottle filled up with equal parts of the rhubarb, lemon juice and water.
The rhubarb makes the bleaching effects of the lemon juice a lot stronger. Do not forget to condition your hair. Lemon juice can dry your hair out some hence why I asked if maybe you can do this indoors as well.
