Is it true you should wash your hair with dish soap before dying it?

I do hair so I know a lot about hair and color etc..you shouldnt wash your hair at all today if your getting it colored..it needs to be kinda dirty to keep that color in..

No. Your hair needs to be dirty so the oils in it help absorb the dye and help it last longer!

Your hair being dirty doesn't really "keep the color in" so much as it keeps your hair from being overly damaged by the strong chemicals in the color. Damaged hair doesn't hold color. But if it's too dirty the color won't take. It's best not to wash it for 24-48 hours before coloring. NEVER use dish soap on your hair for any reason unless you use some sort of oil on it and absolutely cannot get it out of your hair. For any other reason it will just strip your hair of all oils which is not good. Honestly whoever told you that BS needs slapped.
