Exfoliating really helps. It gets all the dead skin off your face and cleans and refreshes your skin! Salt can over-exfoliate and damage your skin, you can mix baking soda, lemon juice, and tea tree oil (or any natural oil) and use it. The baking soda is a finer grain so it acts more like a polish than an exfoliant.
