Haaya, basically I am really embarrassed to ask my friends what a toner that you use on your face. They all use one and I just go along with it even though I have no clue what they are on about , so can anyone help??xxx

No worries Kayleigh! Toner can be used for a few things and sometimes people say it's to take of the last residue of your makeup after cleansing but it also returns your skin's ph from alkali to neutral after cleansing too as bacteria can thrive in alkali climates (I think). Toners also tend to contain glycerin that helps your skin retain moisture from water and your moisturiser. Some newer toners can also help your skin in other ways - 'exfoliating' toners contain very mild forms of acid that hello break down the outer and dead later of skin (like a gritty exfoliant would do but gentler)
