Pretty much, the question on my mind lately. neither I or my fiancee like natural. I find it underwhelming. she finds it unflattering. but it seems everyone is natural obsessed right now. I have also noticed that the people who do color always limit it to YouTube and only wear neutral in real life.

is it a lack of confidence or do you truly find natural (barely there) to be superior to color or bold looks?

I agree. I also can't stand the expression "everyday look" like just an average day can only consist of "no make up make up"

I don't think wearing natural makeup means you lack confidence or find it to be a superior color. I wear neutral makeup because it's a great, simple look for school and in general, everywhere I go. Though bold makeup is obviously wearable, it's not always for everyone (just like neutral isn't for you) nor does it always enhance ones features like neutral makeup does.

I agree with you. I love, love, love bold looks and I wear them out all the time, day or night. I think make up is more an art than anything and natural kind of kills that side of it...opresses the creative aspect, if that makes any sense

Anupa, I totally agree! The point of makeup in my mind is to create art, and neutrals kill that completely!

I like natural-ish looking makeup. but I prefer bright and beautiful makeup.. I hate when everyone is like thats too much makeup you should do it more natural.. if I wanted to go natural I wouldn't wear makeup period fuck! lol it effin annoys me. I love makeup and all the colors why be bland and boring? I like to have fun with my makeup!! :))

It's all about supply and demand, which will in turn make the companies more money. I think they choose neutral colors because it appeals to more masses (teens, young adults, adults, and senior citizens), whereas bold colors probably don't appeal to as many people. Personally, I ADORE bright, dramatic makeup. I wish there were more palettes like Sugarpill's that include bright, vibrant shades. Oh well.

I like to use less makeup because I practically live at the beach. Everybody has their own style and taste in makeup.

I wear whatever I feel I look good in. I don't care if its bold and in the daytime at work! Whatever looks good, I say rock it. The whole "daytime look" can kiss my ass! lol

I agree with Lauren M.

Personally, I LOVE bold and bright makeup and feel most confident with something a bit more dramatic, whereas that isn't the case for everyone.

I think natural is at its peak right now because of the hot weather. And it's less makeup.

I have an "everyday look" just because its fast and easy. It doesn't require me to think about what techniques to do or take a long time trying to make it perfect.

I LOVE bold looks but I am terrible at coordinating colors, and blending in general. I practice with color on the weekends, but when I have class and work I can't spend hours fixing a look I struggle to make look good! But mad respect to those who rock bold looks daily!

People like natural maybe because it's easier or because it's less noticeable? Idk, some people like to blend in with the crowd rather than stand out. It's kinda like clothes. Just because something looks great and works for someone else doesn't mean it will for you.

Art is in many different forms and just because some people prefer one way doesn't make it necessarily better, just a matter of opinion. But I do agree there is an unnecessary obsession with "natural" makeup

I like both but I don't like to have tons of makeup on I think its your own personal taste some people wear so much they look like a clown I like to be able to see my skin if I'm going out I will put more even when I do clients I don't over do it unless they request it

I love natural and bold. It depends on my mood mostly. And I think part if it has to do with the fact that younger and younger girls are getting into makeup. I know I wore make-up when I was probably 10 or 11. And sense parents don't want there 11 year olds wearing full faces of makeup...bam! The industry starts going more natural because a lot of the profits are there.

I rock both natural and colorful, not all at once though.lol. When I was working I had to keep my makeup on the conservative side because I worked in a conservative field but come the weekend I busted out with the colorful. Though in my city women keep it very natural and the only time I see colorful work is when I'm at the MAC store...on the employees. I never judge those who go for the natural look because I hate being judged for wearing my candy yum yum lippie when I'm out and about.

I absolutely agree with this so much it hurts lol. I'm so so sick of seeing "naked/neutral/no-makeup-makeup/everyday look/wearable" on everything now. The "natural" look they're shoving at people does not look natural by any means. A palette full of shimmery eyeshadows is the furthest thing from natural-looking, even if the colors are earthy and neutral toned. And always I see people wearing a thick, black cat eye with their neutral shadows and proclaiming it as their "natural look," which is also NOT natural. I think the reason it annoys me is not because I dislike neutrals, I wear my fair share of them and fairly often, believe me, but it's now this attitude that some have that if you don't wear just BB cream and a tinted lip balm you're wearing too much makeup. Of course not everyone has that attitude but I myself am sick of being bombarded with this less is more attitude of BB cream and those stupid baby lips lip balms. It also just annoys me because these people don't seem to understand the actual concept of natural. Just because you wear neutral shadows doesn't mean you look natural. There's a difference but a lot of people don't see it. A girl could have on 10 different shades of neutral shadows and that's acceptable, even though she's obviously wearing makeup, but as soon as someone else walks out wearing a purple and blue smokey eye that's too much lol. It doesn't make sense to me how we decide what's too much based on the color of the makeup.

But of course, to each their own. Everyone is comfortable with different things and that's totally fine. I'm just tired of being bombarded by the trend. Each week there's a new naked/neutral something or other coming out and its gotten so old. I'm ready for glitter to make it's comeback (more so than it has) Bring on the glitter! lol.

I don't think I can agree with you more, Caitlin! You're so right... especially the bit about glitter <3
