I want to dye my hair purple and Pravana hair color was recommended. The closest salon that carries it is over an hour away. Does anyone know can my stylist just order that off their website? Any info would be great!

I'm needing help coming up with a light lavender color with pravana. I've tried mixing and am not coming up with what my client wants. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Mandy. See what your salon can do for you first. And Ellen have you tried to a short processing time to get a lighter shade

I fortunately have a friend who owns a salon that uses Pravana close to my house. Anytime I want to do my hair at home, I call them and ask them to pick up a whatever professional supplies I cannot get my hands on when they go on their weekly beauty hall. If you have a salon you like closer to your home, I would ask them if they could pick some up for you (I don't know how well that works though). Otherwise, the internet has EVERYTHING, you won't be purchasing dye from Pravana, but you can probably stumble across someone who will sell single units.
Ellen D.- What exactly are you mixing? If you want a pastel lavender color, dilute your dye with conditioner to achieve a light color. I mix some pink with a touch of purple and dilute it with about 80% conditioner for a super pretty powdery lavender color. I would experiment with a technique like that.

I've been dying my own hair and my friends and family with pravana.. I buy it off ebay, and believe me it is much cheaper than paying over 100 dollars to have a salon do it when I can get a any color they make -free shipping- for about 11.00 US. It's super simple to use, I bought mixing bowl and brushes/clips off of amazon for cheap, latex free gloves off amazon, plastic hair caps and foil, all on amazon for VERY cheap. I use kaleidocolors by Clairol blue tonal bleach ( takes any red and orange tones out) with Clairol soy complex pure white in 40 to bleach which depending on how dark your hair is takes a small amount of time, and doesn't destroy your hair like the box bleach at stores, Again, cheap off of amazon.com. After I bleach to the level that I need for whatever pravana vivid I want to use, I just squeeze the pravana into the mixing bowl (almost like toothepaste, lol) and slather it on my hair, either the whole head, or just the sections you want to color. I then put a cap on over it, and just sit and chill and watch tv for about 4 hours with it in. Afterwards, I rinse until the water is clear (use cool water) then use Ion after color sealent treatment-leave that in for about 5 minutes, rinse, and I'm good to go. This is super important. With any color only use SULFATE FREE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER. It keeps your color from fading quickly and use only luke warm water to wash your hair. Even though it says "demi-permanent" I have never had it come out. I either have to bleach it out, or color black over it, or cut it out. It is permanent when I do it this way for my hair. The purple was this summer, right now I have what I call "mermaid". I mixed the blue, green and silver for the bottom of my hair, used the new pastel blue for the middle and used the pastel mint for the top after bleaching my hair almost white (inside a banana peel color) then streaked the darker shade through the mint green except in the crown area where I left the mint with some blonde peak through. I LOVE it. I just did it on Saturday and have gotten so many compliments from random ppl, it's crazy! They keep asking me where I got the color. Don't think that you can't do this yourself. Read all the info online you can find, educate yourself, and have at it. It's hair. It can always be re-dyed, and it will always grow back if you cut it. Don't be afraid! :) Experiment! It's fun!
Oh, and Ellen, pravana just came out with a line of pastel colors, one of which is lavender. If you want to lighten an shade of pravana, use the "clear" that they have. (My stylist told me that is what they use to lighten the shades) All also found on Ebay.
