Mensa's child genius for 2013 was an Indian girl, age 11. She has already written a few novels and plays Scrabble like a pro. All of this should have been respected, but,
later on on twitter, people posted rude comments to her, saying she should be smart enough to know to get her eyebrows done and her mustache gone. She is only 11 years old and people are talking shmit about her when she is more accomplished than them. So, what is your our opinion on a girl's beauty? When should she start to wear makeup?

Dorothea S.
I think a girl should wear makeup, only if she wants to. I don't think there's a set age for when anyone should. I think it's just a matter of interest in makeup. If you're not that interested you shouldn't feel pressured or forced to like something you don't. I got into makeup when I was like 16 (I'm 18 now), and I know people who don't even like the idea or it and wear nothing but Chapstick. Beauty, literally, is in the eye of the beholder, but more so in yourself. If you feel absolutely gorgeous with a naked face then you'd better flaunt it, but if you prefer to doll yourself up, then work it then too. Like I said, it literally is just a matter of interest in my opinion.

All of your answers are great... But I have I agree with Mookey B. the most. I am 13 and the most I wear is lip balm when basically half of the girls in my class wear a lot. Girls that wear too much makeup at a young age will get premature wrinkles which won't be pretty when your older.

I'm pretty young and I wear makeup but that's because I'm comftorble with it my parents don't mind and I love doing it I think other girls shouldn't have an age limit to when they can wear makeup but I don't think anyone should have the standard age where they should be required to wear makeup.

I agree with mookey! I go to a middle/ high school and it bothers me so much that these 12 year Olds I see walking down the hall can pass as being a senior right along with me. Shouldn't you still be thinking boys are gross at that age? You shouldnt be worried about make up.

Okay, makeup doesn't cause wrinkles...

Yeah, I agree with a lot of you guys. I homeschool but I have several public school friends and a lot of homeschool group friends who wear a ton! I only wears small amount that is barely noticeable. Girls need to realize that they are pretty without a buttload of make up.

Right I'm going to sound like a right bitch but I'm about to talk truth!! Sorry but this is harsh but In life if your not so called good looking your going to have a pretty bad social life, and it really sucks it does but it all starts in secondary school when you start to develop and how your mind starts working... Society has done this and there's no way of changing it, if your not pretty then the popular girls at school won't even look at you and yea you may have your own group of friends but you won't get invited to the top party's and hang around with the boys, it's just how things work, people base a lot of things on how you look and I agree at 11 you shouldn't have to worry but society has made the world believe that without looks then we are nothing, society the thing that calls girls sluts and bad names cos they where make-up and we ain't good enough with the model on the magazines photoshop, airbrushed caked in make-up, society the charity's what make us give them money with the owners flying around in privet jets, society with the government who preach peace but encourage war? It don't make scence and it's overly stupid but it's true, if you was going for a job and you Nd let's say somebody stunning was going for the same job and you both had the dead same grades and goodness they would hire the prettier one, it sucks but it's life and its coming down hard, and that's why people are to judge now so quickly because if you don't try and get into the society as quick as you can like if your different or out of line you get judged as not normal when the ones suck in society are not the normal ones I'm o against this and my thoughts on this are so strong I could rant on forever, BE WHO YOU ARE DO T LET ANYBODY CHANGE YOU EVEN IF YOU ARE DIFFERENT IT's YOU WHAT MAKE THE WORLD BIGHTER!

I'm 13 and I wear quite a lot of makeup but I wear it natural, I do this so I have more confidence in the way I look but am I too young? All of the other people I know my age wear makeup too.

@ClareC.: A couple of things: if makeup is overapplied, or vigorously applied, wrinkles can result. An example would be someone who applies their eyeliner while pulling back the eyelid with a finger. Over time, this area of the skin will lose its elasticity and thus, wrinkles appear.
Keeping makeup on for extended periods (e.g. sleeping in it) can definitely cause wrinkles. Not directly, but wrinkles will result because leaving makeup on for long periods of time cause inflammation, which cause the pores to break down. There's only so much that they can snap back from. Also, some makeup has heavy metals broken down into it, which contribute to the inflammation, pore problems and bacteria.

I am 13 too @KatieP. In my opinion, I don't think 13 is the age to wear makeup. I am starting high school this September and I have never really worn makeup except for lip gloss/ lip balm. I understand the confidence thing, I feel the same way too at times. A lot of makeup isn't really good... At the most, mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss/ lip balm. As long as you keep it natural, then that's ok. It's ok if you don't feel confident at times, you are a beautiful girl and remember that beauty is only skin deep. :) hope I helped😄

I'm 13 almost 14 here in another month and I've been wearing makeup for the past year or so. I usually keep it simple with liner and mascara but on special occasions I glam it up. I only wear it because without it I literally get bullied like the 11 year old Gia S. is talking about. And it hurts because I'm getting it from some of my so called "friends". I wear makeup to keep from becoming depressed and cutting myself or thinking about suicide. Makeup is my "Lifesaver" so to say. I know a lot of people think I'm too young but they don't know me, my life, or my story. I understand why you all think this but it's different for everyone.

I live in England and its very different over here, I know no girl my age who doesn't wear makeup, tbh my and a bunch of my friends have beauty blogs and YouTube channels. I think 13 is the perfect age to be wearing makeup! Talia was only 13 and she wore loads of makeup! ( rip :( )
