You can try and use bobby pins and a smaller hair tie

Are you using a bun maker? If you are I recommend these long kind of things not the donut ones.

To do a tight bun, tie your hair in a pony tail and twirl it and wrap around the base of the pony tail and secure with loads of bobby pins! hope this helped! :)

Use a bandana! I tie my hair in a pony tail with a thick hair tie. then I wrap a bandana around the hair tie. I take my hair & fold it over so the bandana doesn't show & I use a thinner hair tie to keep the hair in place. hope I could help!

Do the bun higher on your head so it rests on top.

If you twist then put another hair tie around it, it makes the bun stick out really far kind of like a doorknob.
