Either GHD or Sultra (although they are technically one company), would be my first choice. Babyliss would be my second, Chi would be my third. But really most people are looking for price, and the first three options are nearly double the price of a chi (for good reason).

Sometimes the straightener isn't the only thing you've got to switch up..but the entire process itself.
It used to take me 2 1/2 hrs to straighten my hair, and I've been able to cut it down to about and hour and a half...maybe even less! (Which yes, is still a long time, but certainly much better than before! Lol)
I was my hair first because I want to make sure my hair is clean before straightening..that way the style will last a bit longer.
I make sure to use a shampoo and conditioner that DOES NOT cater to curly hair..I just have this idea that it makes it more difficult when straightening lol I could be totally wrong though.
After washing it, I let it air dry a bit. During this time, I put Aveda's straitening gloss (I think that's what it's called) in my hair. This works WONDERS and smells like lemons :) haha
Then I proceed to dry my hair with a blow dryer and round brush. With that combo (aveda, blow dryer, and round brush), my hair gets about 70%-80% straight. After that, I use my Royale straightener (any made out of ceramic or tourmaline will do- just be aware that ceramic flat irons tend to flatten your hair much more).
And voilà! That's it!
I hope this helped :) xx

I used to have that same problem. I have thick, curly Puerto Rican hair. I use wet2straight and I make sure to condition really well. I air dry because I hate using the blow dryer and I separate my hair into sections. I should put something in my hair to protect it from the heat but I don't and my hair is actually healthy, only frizzes when it's curly and it's super shiny.

I personally would not get a Chi. I bought one and a month and a half later it just comoletely died. And it was past the warranty date. BUT. I do love love love Plugged In. A few years ago it was only like $30-40. They work amazingly, and I have thicker hair. I highly recommend them. :) Hope this was somewhat helpful!!
