I had to show this to my cosmetic chemist husband. He laughed at the Chapstick myth. And chuckled at the lip cancer remark. He said none of the lines that he has formulated and work on himself has he resorted to using ingredients suspected of containing lead. He did say that many of the cosmetics that are made in factories overseas ( China main offender) are the one's with high levels of lead due to the equipment being used to produce the items contain lead and its being mixed in and sadly there are those that are using chemicals that are lead based...small amounts but enough for him to make him feel uncomfortable.

K A. when I see stuff on the internet when it comes to negative news about cosmetics I run straight to my hubby for the "truth". He really loved the Chapstick myth as he used eat his mom's when he was a kid.lol. Awesome thread girl. ;)

So glad we have smart people on here like Shelley to get the truth out and dispell threads like this that are just based on rumors and no facts whatsoever and I'm glad Shelley that you have the sense to do your research n consult your hubby on matters like this as we all should be skeptical when someone tries to present shocking info like this as fact without any valid sources to back it up - so thanks Shelley and thank your hubby too for shedding some light on this subject :) really appreciate it.

Yeah, not true, sweetie. Most makeup use to have lead in it, and some still do (sadly) but it is rare and they are suppose to list that it may contain.

İ dnt think lip cancer even exists. İn chapsticks and lip related products has animal fat in it but not more. İt would be a simple recipe anyway right?

@Bella S. lip cancer does exist. Seen patients with it at the Mayo Clinic. If left untreated it can eventually attack surrounding tissue and bone. That's why its important to use lip products with some kind of spf in it.

Actually... B.R was originally right about some things. There are dead animals in most chapstick and everything else you put on your face. There are lots of chemicals found in lotions and cleanses that are bad for your skin. I think it is funny how many people will but anti aging products and one of the first five ingredients is usually alcohol denat which causes you to age faster. And if anyone is worried about cancer than buy only truly organic or all natural products and stop eating red meat. There are a decent amount of ingredients in cosmetic products that have been linked to cancer.
