There's several ways.
1. You can get certain shampoos and conditioners. Pantene Pro V's Flat to Volume works. There's plenty more brands out there that may be better.
2. If you straighten your hair, straighten the crown upwards.
3. TEASE. This works every time.

oh and if you blow dry your hair, use a round brush while drying it.. There's so many Youtube videos on volume.

I agree with Paige N. there is several ways. Shampoos and conditioners, but you GOTTA use the ENTIRE REGIME to get the full effects. Try Avons volume regime of shampoo, conditioner, Root Boosting Tonic and Volumizing Spray Gel. Its all very inexpensive and if you dont like it you cna return the stuff and get yr money back in full even after you tryed the stuff

I would suggest blow drying with a round brush. Also, if you're looking to gradually make your hair thicker you should start using castor oil.
