Dying from Ombre to Plum.

Hi friends!

Well, it's that time again and I'm thinking of dying my hair.
My goal is for my hair color to look like this rich, dark, plum color:

But alas! I have a problem... my hair is currently kind of ombre.. Since this picture I've toned it twice and its much less orange now and more ash colored.

I'd ideally like to do this myself since I almost always dye my hair myself because I have extremely thick, long hair and having a professional is so expensive! frown.gif But I do know it's better.. So if I can find a good way to do it myself, I'll definitely try!

I'd like to avoid bleaching my hair anymore to get this dark plum color.. I've had dark red before without any bleach and it turned out great! And this was dyed on my natural hair color:

That being said..
Should I just find a dark brown to match my natural hair color and dye it brown, then plum? Or... maybe two different shades?

We have a Sally's here where I shop so I can pick up the color and developer there! Also, do you have any suggestions on what colors I get there to achieve this color?

Anyone have any suggestions except for getting my poor, broke butt off the internet and hauling it to a salon? Ha

Loreal red excellence cream magenta use 40 developer only problem would be the lighter ends would lighten faster than the top creating a another ombré effect only solution after would just keep on dying the same color after

That looks like a 3 or 4 rv to me, clairol makes some awesome plum colors at sallys! the color will probably take a little lighter at your ends, but I think it'll look gorgeous on you! You wouldn't need to bleach it since you're going darker! happy coloring! (:

If you're going to sallys I would get the plum color you want only use 10vol and get a gold additive to add the the formula for the ends and use just the normal color on the parts that aren't light already. You do this to put the natural undertones back in that were stripped out to get the blonde before. Otherwise you get the two tone problem mentioned before. Hope it helps :)
