So I'm getting surgery on my gums this Friday. I am so scared. I have what's called an operculum which is where a flap of gum is connected to the top of your tooth. So they have to cut it out... with a knife... without putting me to sleep... Please help 😠I'm so scared (I'm only 13, horrible with pain, and horrible with needles/knifes).

My brother had this done and he said it didn't hurt at all...he's 11. So I don't think it will hurt too bad. Don't stress girl 😊

Any surgery can be scary. especially so young. just try NOT to research it and keep calm. you're in the best possible hands with your doctor who is a professional and understands you're probably scared. relay your fears to him. he may be able to ease them. and the shots in the moth only hurt for a couple seconds, just a pinch and then you're numbed up. they also have oragel they use on your gums before being given the shots.. you will be OK.

Brianne and Kathryn- to late I already did TONS of research ha but my dentist said for some extra money he can put me on laughing gas which my mom is thinking about. Because I'm prone to panic attacks and they don't want me having one in the middle of surgery.

I'm pretty sure it's the same thing. He had an adult tooth coming in and the gum was hanging all down it. He had to get it cut out without being put to sleep. I hope this helps and I'm pretty sure they are going to numb the inside of your mouth pretty good.

Yeah dakotah they are mines on top covering the whole tooth stoping it from growing which is why they have to cut it out so soon :(

They will not put you to sleep of course it's just a minor surgery that happens everyday BUT they will give you lots of pain medications and it won't hurt at all, it might just be sore after.

Firstly don't research it. This will just make your mind think of the worse. Think, these people do it day in and day out so they know what there doing. They will probably numb the mouth and it will be other before you know it :)
