I use sunscreen when I swim but I still tan.. Is that normal?? Is it still damaging my skin as much as using no sunscreen??

The sun is going to damage your skin if you stay out too long no matter how much sunscreen you apply. Any exposed skin should have sunscreen though because it protects your skin ALOT. Wearing sunscreen reduces the suns damaging rays a great amount but nothing will be able to protect you fully unless you cover up from head to toe lol. Bottom line sunscreen is better than no sunscreen but its been said that anything over like SPF 50 does the same as SPF 50 but I would google that I could be wrong also reapply everytime you leave the water because technically no sunscreen is actually waterproof and their is currently a bill trying to be passed to make it illegal to write waterproof on sunscreen oh god I am a rambler sorry lol

It's normal but its not the same thing as not using sunscreen or less you would burn... It's very important to wear it so you don't damage your skin! What I've heard dermatologist say is that any sunscreen that has a SPF higher then 50 doesn't really exist. It's impossible to protect higher. If you saw 2 sunscreens one SPF 30 and one SPF 70. the 30 would probable be better its just advertising... I suggest products with SPFs no lower than 30 and no higher than 50.

I've only burned once and it was when I was outside for maybe an hour and I. Was wearing sumscreen.

Water reflects the sun and makes it more powerful that's why.
