i take the 1000mg capsules twice a day just because it's easier than eating it from the jar... also, if you're looking for other natural beauty tips, look up benefits of apple cider vinegar (i take capsules of acv too, because drinking that is DISGUSTING), and also oil pulling. (i do that with coconut oil too) but since i've started oil pulling, my teeth have gotten so much whiter and stronger and i've been steadily losing weight.

I didn't realize you can use coconut oil as a heat protectant. I bought some about a month ago to use as a deep conditioning treatment. I def want to try it as a heat protectant. Any tips on how to apply it without making my hair greasy? My hair is thin and I like to use a curling iron to give it a little more volume.

You can take a teaspoon to tablespoon of coconut oil in your tea, coffee, or icecream. It really tastes delicious. You can definitely eat it off of the spoon and some people do.

I'd say he has lost about six kilos. He hasn't been on a strict diet though

@Laura Coconut oil is great for healing. If you're looking to condition deeply, then olive oil is fattier. Also, please consider grapeseed oil for your hair. It smooths out your hair cuticle and helps reduce your split ends.
Also, I put coconut oil in my hair as a conditioner after I shower (JUST a little bit because it can get greasy) but salons use it as a heat protectant and it's great for styling hair as well because it kind of works like a gel/pomade.

I'm all about natural facial and hair treatments (homeremediesblogger.blogspot.com) and I know for a fact that coconut oil works WONDERS for ACNE and redness on your face! It's great for those of you who bruise easily as well because the coconut oil helps to heal bruised tissue. I've written a few homemade recipes for coconut oil. Come check them out! They're for your skin and hair. Coconut oil is also great if you have dandruff. Just heat it up, massage it into your scalp and hair for about 30 minutes and then wash it off in the shower. Also, I know I'm rambling haha, but coconut oil is also good for your gums! It helps to heal heal heal. Definitely worth investing it. Make SURE you're using ORGANIC coconut oil to gain all the properties :) Hope this helps!

Here is a post I did on my blog about the benefits of Coconut Oil. I hope it helps (:

I would not cook with or add coconut oil to my diet only because its so high in fat and most people already eat a diet so high in fat. The only way I could see it working is if you cut out fats and that was your main source of fat you would have to eat something similar to the Paleo diet.

Coconut oil for topical uses is amazing! I heard it prevents/lessens the appearance of stretch marks as well as olive oil ( my other love).

is the coconut-oil good for the damaged hair (bleached twice) or is candula or olive oil better?

One of the Beautylishers on here (Antonio?) recommended it as a heat protectant, because it can withstand a lot of heat (up to 500F, I think he said). I haven't tried it yet, but I'm very intrigued by the idea. *nods*

I LOVE coconut oil. I don't eat it, but I use it for a lot of things. First off I have used it as a deep conditioner for my hair, and I have used it for cuts, misquito bites, etc. It is my savior! If I ever give myself a cut when shaving I put coconut oil on it and it heals so quickly

Ok, then it sounds legit. I've just talked to a lot of people lately who hear about a trend and try it blindly. But it sounds like the LDL cholesterol is what he's after, so that's good.

Well I takes down his cholesterol and speeds up your metabolism, he has been talking to his doctor and what coconut has it are low chain fatty acids, so they are not harmful to his heart. He had a problem with weight and cholesterol and coconut oil has helped

I've always heard that it's great for skin and hair because it's a vitamin-rich fatty oil... but it's a vitamin-rich fatty oil, so I'm not sure where you heard that it's good for weight loss or cardiovascular health. It might have a high amount of LDL cholesterol, so maybe that's more heart-healthy than other oils. But I researched it when I was looking for things to help my rabbit's digestion and the high levels of fat in coconut oil give rabbits heart attacks like crazy (their system is designed to handle only vegetables- not much fat there!). If your dad is interested in it for heart health, I would tell him to ask his doctor about it.

I am so interested in it at the moment, its like the ultimate weight loss device! And my Dad has heart problems and this apparently helps like crazy!!

I use it on my hair. Great light weight moisturizer! I use it as a hot oil treatment before shampooing :)
