What is BB cream?

So I see a lot of posts about bb cream, and this may sound stupid, but what is bb cream? How is it used and what kind of skin type is it used for? Also, are there different brands of it or is BB Cream to brand name?

BB cream stands for beauty balm. It's as light as a tint moisturizer but with more coverage. It's supposed to have correcting elements to it. All BB creams claim to do something different. Most have SPF, dark mark correcting, and brightening effects. If that's true, who knows...but all brands basically have their own BB creams now. It's a nice foundation for the warmer months due to the SPF and light weight feel.

A tinted moisturizer really. Some obsess over some just don't see why they are...I just don't like it lol.
