Where to get prom makeup done?

Hi there! I have prom in 5 weeks and I want to get my makeup done professionally. However, I can't decide between MAC or Sephora. I got my makeup for my 16th birthday party done at Sephora, and it was a disaster. I asked for a natural look and walked away with bright pink and purple eyeshadow. However, I have seen other girls come out of Sephora looking absolutely stunning. As for MAC, I have seen mostly good results on girls who get makeup done there. Does anybody highly recommend one over the other?
