Use anti bacterial hand soap and olive oil...dish soap is not good at all for brushes.

Put equal amounts of each on a plate. Wet the brush, then swirl it around in the mixture on the plate. Then rinse off the brush using your hand to get the soap out

Be sure not to put too much olive oil in the mix, because I tried this recently and it took 3 washes to get the olive oil out. It really wasn't fun. :c.
