I want to get into professional make-up artistry, and I need some practice. When you're using models (or friends, relatives) what do you have to do to have the right to use their photograph in your portfolio? Also, does anyone have tips for choosing models and how to ask them without offending or frightening them?

I don't really know all that much about models and portfolios and stuff, but I'd imagine that if you had the proper permission from them, it'd be fine.
"without offending or frightening them" haha, that sounds like my life.

It's an verbal contract that you usually have with a model to use the images as long as their receiving images in return. If you feel like you need a legal contract then all you need is a page with you logo and a paragraph on how you can use the photos taken in anyway you see fit I.e publication, business promotion youthen sign it get the model to sign it and a photographer if you have one but really their not needed or used models know their photos will more in likely to be used
