I've decided to try out gel liner but can't for the life of me apply it neatly. when I apply the product on the brush it doesn't stay on the tip... it clumps at the bottom of the brush instead of the tip. maybe I'm applying too much?? I've tried tapping the brush but I never get enough on the brush. what is my problem?? lol.

I use a artist watercolor paint brush from a craft store that is flat not angled and I get a good amount on the tip then dab it little by little until I get all the way across my lash Line or a winged effect then go over it w an urban decay 24/7 eyeliner then take a makeup liner brush w gel liner and go over it again! Makes a nice line and really pigmented!! I hope this helps if I confused you I'm sorry! Good luck!!

One of the ways I learned how to put it on was by watching youtube or I would go to the mac makeup counter and asked them to show me how to put it on.

The way youre picking up the color is too rough. lightly brush the make up with the brush angled almost parallel to the surface of the gel. if it still clumps wipe it on the inside of the lid and manipulate it until all or most of the product is on the tip.
think about how to sharpen a pencil, how you want the tip to be sharp bc thats what you write with- thats how gel liner should be on a brush. on the tip so you can get those sharp lines. it just takes practice to get your hand used to it. gel liners are my fav, they have amazing staying power and you will get sharp lines every time without worrying about sharpening.

Try wetting your liner brush first them squeeze the water from the brush then twist as you dip into the gel liner lightly, that should help grab the gel

Also, If you are able. Place an elbow on the table to steady your hand. And have your mirror slightly below you at an angle. You look down at the mirror and your eyelid fully stretched so its easy to apply. You're also less likely to blink this way.

Thanks everybody for your tips! I started with elf gel liner... I didn't want to spend too much if I want going to like it. it actually comes with its own brush. I'll try wetting it first to see if that helps. thanks again!

I love gel liner. I find that some of the brushes don't work (the one from Wet n Wilds fergie line gel liner for one and Maybelline too) but I love the brush Loreal makes with there gel liner. I agree that resting your arm help so much. It took me a while to transition from regular liner to gel, but keep it up, it will click soon.

I use a brush almost similar to a thin nail art brush.
