I know at Mac they use some liquid to wipe off the lipsticks so you can try them on. What exactly is that? Might be a dumb question 😕

It's probably alcohol. That's really the only thing that will disinfect. Baby wipes will wipe off the top layer but as far as I know most baby wipes do not have antiseptic in them because it would be too harsh. You can check the ingredients but I think alcohol would be the best bet. After you wipe the alcohol off take a dry tissue and wipe it again so there isn't any alcohol left to dry out your lips. Although if you're using them on someone else you really should scrape some off and put it on a palette and then use a brush to apply, rather from applying right from the tube. Even if it's been wiped off its just more sanitary to scrape some off that way it doesn't come in contact with anyone else's mouth at all.

I put rubbing alcohol in a little spray bottle, spray it onto your lipstick and let it air out a little. You can do this for you eyeshadows and powders too.
