I've been looking at different people's eyeshadow and some look smoother while some look like the shadow settles in every wrinkle. Even when they say they use primer.

Its probably the quality of the primer.

What's the best primer to use to maybe tone down the wrinkled look?

Try to add a little concealer before applying a primer , also blending really makes a difference on how the eyeshadow looks. (:

Try taking a soft make up brush as gently glide it over your lid.

Blend it out better should reduce creasing also the primer makes all the difference they are not all created equal! I like the smashbox lid primer and I've tried UD tarte and too faced and I found the smash box one is best for color quality and UD is best for reducing creasing throughout the day.

Get good makeup brushes, MAC makes the best in my opinion and just blend well :)

Brushes do make a difference. Sigma brushes are great. As the other beauties suggested a primer helps with reduced creasing. Good luck. Smile and stay beautiful. :)

I love benefit stay don't stray as a brightener and primer. I feel like my shadow stays on all day with it, and that never happens if I don't use it. and I use it alone if I just need a little highlight. it's one of my must haves.

Shimmer shows eye wrinkles more than matte. Try using a matte color as your base and shimmer as a highlight only.

@MicahB it does depend on the quality &/or consistency of a primer. Urban decay provides different 3-5? textures that vary in density aka thickness, finish, & longevity or wearing power. While I love urban decay I am trying to lean towards more raw/organic products seeing as it goes on the eye, a delicate & fragile. I learned from a tutorial, that if I remember the name of I will share, that the fight chooses to wear concealer instead of primer, a lot of artists do that, or wear concealer then primer, or MAC paint pots. What I've found most successful when trying to get a flawless eye canvas (also making sure any eye cream or options are completely dry) granting little bit of extra time to...
1. Lightly apply concealer to entire orbital eye area.
2. Apply a thin or light layer of primer.
3. Just before primer completely dries, using a light hand- (I try to apply it in an air brush fashion) -apply a translucent powder (I use MAKEUP FOR EVER- 'Prep & Fix') although, I've also seen some artists use a flesh based pressed or loose powder, using a small-medium eye or facial blending brush.
These simple steps make a world of a difference. Having applied the concealer and/or primer, provides a little moisture & the (I favor translucent) powder blends & light finishes it before the shadow. I know this was an old question but I came across it & figured I'd share what others have shared with me.
